An ancestor or brother tot he classic CLUE game, but with more ambience, and tickling your brain more than just checking cards in secret.

VERY recommended for all fans of the inspector genre. It may not be high-tech as a game, but the fun is very much there none-the-less.

Please try again later. From the United States. You are trying to put enough clues together to solve the case and each case is different in terms of what is needed to solve it.

Typically, a case takes about 60 to 90 minutes to solve. You will not need to see all possible clues on the board to solve it, so part of the puzzle is to figure out where the best clues might be, depending on what you know already.

A young child can be paired with someone older letting the child do what they are able to do each turn, rolling the die, moving the token, etc.

Once you have enough of the clues, the case should be straightforward to figure out, this is not a game with elaborate deductions. It is a race game in that you are trying to figure out the case before the other players.

My wife and I were looking for a good board game to share fun times with our friends and bought this game based on the reviews.

Glad we did! After several cases, we found it best to play as 2-player teams just a suggestion since, as they say, two minds are better than one.

Plus the game moves quicker in team-mode and allows more people to join in the action. Be warned, some of the clues are misleading, so don't rush to solve too quickly.

I'm a board game enthusiast. I'm the type of guy who buys a board game at least every couple of months. I played another game called Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, and loved it.

When I saw this, it reminded me of a simpler version of it. I thought that this would be fun to play with my wife and aging mother as a cooperative game.

Well, I was right. It comes with cases, and each one lasts us around 30 minutes. It has earned 5 stars because we have a lot of fun with it, and plan to go through all cases.

However, you should know a few things: We play it cooperatively. Although this might be fun to play competitively, the base game uses a die to determine how far you move; this makes for a poor competitive experience.

Although there is some genuine thinking required to solve some of the mysteries, many of the clues are just silly little word puzzles.

They are generally very easy to solve, but not always. When playing cooperatively, you are trying to solve the case as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, deciding on where to go to collect clues is sometimes highly random. In other words, there are times when there are no cues in the game that suggest that you should go somewhere, so you just end up wasting turns visiting random places.

Regardless of my criticisms, the stories are always entertaining, and at times, it is possible to figure out the mystery with enough evidence and careful reasoning.

The clues Some are simple and tell you something that will easily help you solve the crime. Ready to solve those clues!

The cases might give you a definitive path to follow such as, the crime being committed in the park or it might be more abstract and not give you any real direction.

The map has fifteen locations that can be visited, with fourteen giving clues. Read a case. A player reads the case out-loud so everyone can take notes and then reads it out-loud once again so everyone can clarify any discrepancies they might have had.

Roll the dice, move, and repeat until you reach a location. This is pretty self-explanatory. Once a location has been reached, read the clue and make notes for yourself.

If there is something promising, there is a standard note pad that each detective receives that will help solve the case. Rinse and repeat until a victor emerges or everyone has failed.

But you know what? It happens. This game is from and the standards were different I assume, as I was not alive…. Ever watch a detective show where the main character constantly plays dumb, makes zero progress towards solving the crime, then at the last moment has a brainwave and explains every detail clearly and catches the bad-guy?

That's B Baker Street by Gibsons. And it's amazing. This family friendly game relies on a lot of concentration and reading between the lines, but it is possible to solve.

Very possible. You, alongside your other players, will take on the roles of competing detectives all attempting to solve a crime that has occurred in old London Town.

There are 75 cases to solve, clues to sort through, and several things to find for each case, so the game isn't short of complications.

But don't let that fool you! Of the 75 cases you'll be solving, it's one per game and the clues associated with it are dictated at the start to ensure there is no confusion I promise!

The game is centred around you trying to solve a crime by investigating the town and its associated buildings, identifying the culprit, their weapon and the motive, and then reporting back to B Baker Street to explain your solution.

You'll start with Case One unless you're a rebel and you'll read the overview for the case. This will entail those involved, the victim, the key locations and potentially a hidden clue.

You'll then be told which clue each location on the board is associated to these are listed off in the clue book, listed from Some clues will be very point blank and explain 'who-dunnit', whereas others may give you half a clue, and some don't help at all!

I seriously recommend writing down the number of the clue associated to the location when they're reeled off, you'll speed up gameplay a lot!!

When you enter a location, you'll look through the clue book for the associated clue and find out what the building's inhabitants have to say.

Frustratingly though, the folk living in London are terrible at passing on information, often playing word association games, saying half a clue, asking a general knowledge question as a clue, or just being as long-winded as possible when passing on their clues.

You'd think they'd want to help the police with their investigations, but you'd be wrong. Most of the deduction comes, not from the clues, but how you use them.

Missing out on some clues but picking up others can fill in the blanks in some cases! Old school Sherlock Holmes had a lot of red herrings throughout his investigations, and B Baker Street is no different.

Fun factor — Eight kinds of fun — Sensation — If you like a colorful game board, then this has it, if you like rolling a die, then this game has that too.

Fantasy — the game pulls you into a very basic world of Victorian London and Sherlock Holmes and his detective work.

Narrative — you need to follow the narrative to crack the clues and solve the case. Discovery — you will learn new random knowledge facts as you progress through the game, which could come in handy for the next time you are stuck on a crossword!

If you are a fan of the greatest detective in literature, you need to give this game a spin. This is a brilliant game, it's a more in depth version of cluedo. We play this with our 10yr old daughter (she's allowed to use google for the harder clues). There are 75 scenarios included in the book. It does take a while to play so definitely not a quick game, but it's great fun and it really makes you think. April 13, Peter Board Games, Review Review: B Baker Street B Baker Street is an investigative game set in Victorian London with crossword-like puzzle solving and game play inspired by Cluedo. This is classic Conan Doyle, with Holmes trudging around London with a magnifying glass, solving cases by putting together the pieces. B Baker Street puts you in Sherlock Holmes' shoes. It's an experience and it's exactly what you would expect it to be; cracking clues and solving cases. A few years ago, I was able to find and purchase an older Holmes-esque game: b Baker Street, a detective game where you try to discover the culprit, the means, and the motive for each case the game offers. Each case is a small paragraph that gives the players some vague information regarding the possible crime ahead of them.
